Does mom or dad need some help?
It has been a rough 12 months for everyone, but especially for seniors. Covid-19 brought fear and panic into many people’s lives, but even more so to our beloved senior citizens. With lockdowns and frightening news on television, most seniors stayed locked away in their homes, alone. Many did not get to enjoy the once a year visit from their children for the holidays. So many were and are still trying to go it alone.
During the pandemic, things have only gotten harder and more desperate for our seniors. So many have needed a friend, a smile, and some help with everyday tasks like housekeeping and meal preparation. Not to mention someone to go to the store for them. To help them navigate virtual doctor appointments and video chats with family across the miles. Neighbors have stepped in and helped many, but as things start opening up and people go back to doing some of their own work and activities, some seniors will still need help with grocery shopping, transportation, meal preparation, and simple companionship. Honest, reliable home care can be a tremendous help to those who need it. Often times people do not know where to start looking for that little bit of extra help. Sisters for Seniors is one of several home care companies in the Venice area. Sometimes your doctor can recommend reliable assistance. Other good sources are friends and neighbors who have had experience with a local care provider. No matter which company you choose, here are some things to ask:
- Are they licensed through the State of Florida
- Are all staff employees of the company or are you the actual employer
- Are all staff fingerprinted and passed the Level 2 background check
- Are all staff drug-tested
- Are all staff covered for workman’s compensation and general liability
- How accessible is the company’s owner
- Have there been any complaints against the company
And finally, who will care for my loved one like family? Sisters for Seniors does – every day.
